Rood

Rode wijn wordt al sinds mensenheugenis gemaakt en geconsumeerd. Wereldwijd worden er gigantische aantallen rode wijn geproduceerd van bekende, inheemse druivenrassen zoals: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), Grenache, Syrah (Shiraz), Tempranillo, Primitivo, Negroamaro, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Malbec en Zinfandel.

Niet alleen in de klassieke wijnlanden als Frankrijk, Spanje, Italië en Portugal worden rode wijnen gemaakt. Ook in landen buiten Europa hebben steeds meer landen ervaring en een rijke historie in het maken van rode wijn. Zo timmeren Zuid-Afrika, Amerika, Chili, Argentinië, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland hard aan de weg om de beste rode wijn te maken. Er word lang al niet meer alleen gedacht aan rode wijnen uit bijvoorbeeld Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Rhône, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Toscane, Piemonte en Valpolicella.
